I have two wooden oriental dowry chests . One is made of Indian teak and the other of Camphor wood.
The teak chest has brass inlays and shallow carvings ; it is in good condition though the brush of a wet mop against the lower parts of the chest has robbed it of some sheen. The camphor chest has very deep and intricate carvings.
What would be the best oil to use to clean these regularly ; ditto for wax/ polish. I was thinking of lemon oil to clean the teak but may not be a good idea on the camphor chest. I read (on this forum) that the camphor chest can be buffed to a nice sheen with a leather piece but not sure if the leather will get into and around the carvings.
Many thanks for your help.
