furniture restoration

i have just bought a 1950's style ottoman and i plan to restore it.
it is made of wicker which i want to paint white, but i'm unsure as to what sort of paint to use. any suggestions please?

Any quality waterbase paint will do

And rattle-can spray paint might be your best bet for application.

BTW, if you need some minor repairs of loose strands, wrap the areas with 5-10 lb fly fishing type line before painting. Paint won't adhere to monofilament type line.
