Mother of pearl inlays. How do I go about restoring them

Post by Weatherguy »

Hi all. I have an Asian style circular table that sits about a food off the ground. The main part of it is plywood. I can tell cause the finish on the side flaked off in parts and the raw wood is showing. The top still looks okay though except for some of the mother of pearl inlays are flaking off. How does one replace these little things? Is it as simple as just putting some glue in the inlays and pressing down the mother of pearl? Or should I just take it to a pro? It's plywood so I doubt it's an antique or anything like that. I just want to fix the top so I can have a plexiglass topper fabricated to protect it. Thanks for the help!!
