I have a dresser set of Kent Coffey "the Capper" in a blonde veneer. It's pretty dang ugly really. The veneer almost looks like a laminate and is very thin. Underneath it is a darker wood I can't identify. I initially tried removing the finish with mineral spirits, sanded with 120 by hand and then tried to stain and it would not take a stain at all. Any ideas what the real wood is underneath the veneer? It's not too hard to sand through and I'd do it if it was anything decent underneath. Google searching has failed me so far.
