My 9yr old was trying to clean her room and decided her dresser need "cleaning". She sprayed Lysol desinfectant on every drawer! Now there are big white spots where she sprayed. Is there anything that can remove the stain or will I have to refinish the dresser? It is solid mahogany and was going to be refinished in the future.
Any advice would be huge!
thanks.

I'd try the following items in the following sequence, until the white spots are gone.
1) Use a hair dryer set on Medium, & blow warm air over the spots
2) Dampen a cloth with denatured alcohol. Then using a quick motion, like a plane coming in for a landing and then taking off again, go over the spots
3) Rub olive oil over the spots, first with just your finger. Wait 24 hours. If no change, try the same thing, only rub it in with a piece of brown paper bag
4) Go to hardware or paint store & get "fine" steel wool. It's called "Four-Oh". Lightly rub this over the area.
If any of these steps work, wipe the area clean with dry paper towels, and then apply an automotive polishing compound to the damaged area. Only do this if the sheen of the damaged area is duller than the surrounding areas. If it's not, apply a good paste wax to the entire surface. If it is, use the polishing compound, wipe it off, and then apply a good paste wax

Re: Stains left on Mahogany dresser from spraying Lysol on it
I think this worked. I am waiting for 24 hours to be 100% sure, but the marks left by Lysol Disinfectant appear to be gone. I'll admit the can of Lysol mentions not to use the product on polished wood, but it says this buried deep in the instructions (not in bold, not up where it mentions the places it recommends using it, etc.). I sprayed the entire table lightly and fortunately that didn't cause any damage. But the problem was made when I sprayed my remotes and set them on the table to dry. I was left with amazingly clear white cloudy impressions of my remotes.
I hesitated to try the technique listed here because it sounded terribly easy to really screw up my surface more, but after trying other techniques from other posts (including rubbing in mayo), I figured I better try this since my only other option was to call a refinisher.
I only had to leave the hair dryer on the affected area for about 30 seconds and then I used a somewhat rough terry-cloth shop towel with the denatured alcohol and did as you said with making passes, like an airplane landing and taking off. Then I used olive oil. I ended up working olive oil into the adjacent panels on my wood table so they all had the same finish. After that I let it sit for 20 minutes and then rubbed off the excess olive oil with a different shop towel.
So far the table looks better than it did before I messed it up. THANK YOU. My heart was totally coming out of my chest when I thought I had ruined our new table.

Thanks for posting these directions. I also didn't realize Lysol disinfectant spray couldn't be used on wood. However, your directions were spot on. I used the hairdryer on medium and then made quick swipes over the marks with alcohol. That was enough to repair the damage. Fortunately, it didn't take off the finish. Appreciate your help.

I read a few replies here , the hair dryer will work but will take a LOTT of time
Here is what I did
Took an old rag , thin cotton fabric and used by regular electric iron to evaporate the water trapped that causes the white blotches. After the work was done , waxed the table
