Damaged Veneer--Help!

Post by Tracyru »

Hi! This is the first piece that I am trying to refinish, so any and all advice is appreciated!

I recently found a beautiful trestle sewing table on the side of the road (circa 1901, New Companion), and fell in love. I even had my parents ship it from their home in NY to where I live in Atlanta. The previous owners had painted the piece.

I stripped the piece, and now have to deal with a veneer problem. Unfortunately the piece is missing a piece of veneer approximately 6"square. Now, I don't know what to do about this. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have really no clue what the veneer type is on the piece.
