I have recently acquired a bench that my great grandfather built. It is basically a huge mangrove root(trunk), split, with two small mahogany legs that are only there to keep this log from rolling.
Originally he used cast resin to fill the top and make it level and he mebedded two silver dollars in the resin.
Unfortunately the bench has been moved various times, and the resin has been cracked out in many places. How would you guys go about redoing this resin, and bring the "grain" back out of the wood.
Thanks a million, and I will post pictures in a few minutes.
Trying to refinish an interesting piece
