My daughter bought a pair of cheap oak chairs for my 16 month old grandson. I've been elected to refinish them. They are in reasonably good shape but need a bit of cleaning and some color added to cover worn areas. I've seen some positive comments on the forum about Howard's Restor-A-Finish and am considering using it here, although I never have before. My questions are
1) Does it leave a durable finish or does it need a topcoat?
2) If a topcoat will help, what do you normally use? The directions say not to use polyurethane.
Thanks for any advice. I plan on tackling this over the weekend.
