Refinish cerused white coffee table

I'd like to try to refinish this West Elm coffee table. It is made of rubberwood with a cerused white finish and I'd like it to have a medium warm stained finish. Can I sand off the existing finish or do I need to use a chemical stripper? Does anyone have recommendations for stain colors?
