Pie safe redo

Post by kclark »

I met with a woman age 83 today who wants some furniture redone. She is a retired interior decorator and has this pie safe. Somebody (don't know who) damaged the tin panels with stripper in the past. If anyone knows how I can restore them or make them look better, please help with ideas short of replacing them. She does not care that it is old and isn't concerned about the value of the pie safe.

Just my opinion, if it was aged that would look okay but these panels look horrid. They are very scarred and looked etched almost. Then in the center of them, they look okay again. I tried to add a pic but it's too large and not sure how to do that.

Also what hardware was found of these types of pieces originally?

Thank you.
